A QUICK PLUNGE AT SUNSET

Dungeons and nearby Sunset Reef may be two wildly different waves, but they have collectively produced some of the best big-wave surfers in the world. While Dungeons is infamous for being unpredictable and breaking across a vast playing field, Sunset is the epitome of a perfect A-frame peak and can look invitingly benign in photos. But don't let that fool you. The perspective from across the channel offers a more accurate gauge of what’s required to tackle the wave in earnest.
